I think the number depends on a lot of factors, it's different for everyone. Keeping it to 12 is a real challenge for me, I may have to amend Dogma 12. ( :
I am not convinced those are in the proper order! :D Also, no one can see those beautiful machines while they are locked up in their cages. Best to let them roam free all over the house.
Cameron - its actually a crime to have them stacked up like this in the garage... I am in the dreaming/planning stages of getting a case, though not in the realm of Frank K's: http://schrijfmachine.blogspot.com/2012/07/show-off.html?spref=bl
HA! i am actually going to decorate my cube sometime next week with pics of the little one and a couple of my typers! maybe i can snap a pic but my company is ultra secretive... ill do it anyway!
What a stack. I can't keep my machines (still under ten, so I don't think I even qualify) in their kennels. My husband thinks I need to cover them up to keep the dust out, but then, why have them? For me the shape and keys hold the inspiration.
You must really miss your babe when you're away. I know I do miss mine. :)
V - i will let them out to play once i get them cleaned and repaired. The baby has really eaten up the time so that any free time is spent usually trying to catch up on sleep.
the goal is to get them in as good a shape as possible and use them... and probably purge some, you know, thin the herd. im already kinda making a mental list of which ones i can do without. Its sad but a necessary. I want to end up with 10-12, but more realistically probably 15 which is plenty!
Oh my goodness :D That is almost like a yummy stack of pancakes and strawberries. Sooooo yummy. I get what you mean about it being hard to whittle down the herd... I've been meaning to keep only 7, but now it's at 10? ah hahaha :D
So glad that I finally got to read your blog Michael! Thanks for dropping by mine ;)
May I ask, how many typewriters do you have at the moment?
ReplyDeleteTon, I think I have 25 +/- 2 or 3. I am stopping acquiring more and ideally would like to whittle down to 10-12.
DeleteQuite a collection you've got. I've got half of what you own, check this out
ReplyDeletewow - now i know ive overdone it if you only have half the number i have!
DeleteThanks for the link to your dogma12 - ive actually read that post before when i was a mere lurker :)

Ken - you have a ton of typers! They own your house and youre lucky theres enough space for you and your girl hahaha
DeleteInteresting assortment. By the time I had that many, a lot were duplicates of common 60's scm's. You've been able to get interesting stuff. Cute kid.
ReplyDeleteThanks Peter!
DeleteThere's something about the sight of a stack of typewriter cases which screams out "OPEN ME! TYPE ON ME!"
