Script notes from a Voss

Here is my cream color Voss Sad Face, missing ribbon cover. Serial # 179526

My complete Voss machines. The greenish-taupe one of the left ( serial # 137278) is from Nick Beland from about a couple years ago right before he moved to Seattle, if I remember right. The burgundy one in the middle is another gullwing Voss, serial # 140018. The last on the right has serial # 164832.

The 3 lined up, they all work

Another pic since I felt bad that the one without a ribbon cover was left out of the group shot

  1. I sense the return of an obsession ....

Yep, all the Vosses with removable single-piece ribbon covers are "sad face" machines.

  2. I've missed being around and I've missed a lot! It's going to be hours and hours on end catching up on people's blogs. Apologies in advance if I end up commenting on a post from last year hahaha.

As for the happy face gullwing version... interesting tangent. Back when we were engaged, the wifey asked me what I wanted as a wedding gift. I couldn't think of anything and months passed and one day I told her, id like a Mercedes Gullwing. I liked the way they looked and I figured since it was from the late 50s, we could probably find one for an affordable price. I researched it a couple days later and yeah, those things are like $1 million. hahaha

  3. Look who's making a comeback. It's about time. (:
Very nice Voss family. I've test-typed Richard's, quite a solid typer. Brawny. My dream Voss is a Privat, good luck with that.

    1. Ton I like the Privat too... haven't come across one yet. Hopefully one of these days we both will have one.

    1. What's even more awesome is that I remember that I got each of them for pretty good prices. I'll have to double check and hopefully share those numbers soon

  5. I find that Script typeface very readable. I especially like the burgundy and green Voss. :)

    1. Steve - This is actually my very first typecast using script. I'm quite pleased with its legibility. I think I've quite maybe half a dozen script machines so hopefully ill be able to showcase those others soon.
I like that Burgundy one too but I have to admit, I've a weakness for Voss so it could be booger black or gangrene rot and I'd think its magnificent.
