Underwood Portable gets it done

  1. Nice looking Underwood. Those old Underwoods are hard to beat when it comes to nice touch and good typing. I'd just move the roller farther in the paper rather than trying to bend the return lever that does not look bent. Those levers are quite hefty I doubt they'd ben easily.

I agree with your synopsis of Obama -- He's a good talker.

Good typecast. It is nice that your sons are taking interest in typewriters. I still remember being very very young and playing with our old Underwood 4B. Typing gets to be habit forming.

    1. Thanks for the tip on the underwood return lever. I was totally getting frustrated. there isn't a lot of clearance between the return arm and the paper feed roller rod (is what im calling it for now).
it felt good to type and post today!

    2. I second Bill, glad to hear your young sons are drawn to your typewriters. It would be great to see a post about it.

  2. The Corona 4 return arm has similar problems. I think it's just a design flaw of this generation of portables. That's a very attractive machine, indeed - I love the green and gold (:

    1. ive seen that green woodgrain version which doesn't have the gold and ive seen that darker green paint version, and that other green where the gold parts are greened out.
I like this color/style best and im glad I didn't pay $250 for it like some other auctions.

  3. Good typecast. I'm jealous you got to see an Obama speech live. My dad taught Math at Irvine in the 80's.
That's a nice machine. They really went downhill in that size in the 50's.
